DeNeer Davis

DeNeer was born and raised in Charlotte and is a graduate of UNC - Pembroke, earning a degree in Exercise Sports Science and was an NCAA Division II Athlete. DeNeer explains,

"I had dreams of playing professional basketball, but my dreams became deflated after tearing my ACL and I discovered a new passion and talent - art. I believe art provides a vehicle to express one's self without words. My ever-present goal is to inspire and be inspired by other artists, students, and the community."

As DeNeer says - "Art saved my life!" Among DeNeer's MANY experiences, they have:
- Taught arts and crafts and is a "We Are Hip Hop" artist for Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte
- Participated as a commissioned artist participating in the Black Lives Matter murals in Spartanburg, SC and Charlotte, NC.
- Served as lead artist for "Building Bridges with Art," a community project hosted by the Charlotte Art League following the murder of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.

As part of the preserving the Black Lives Matter murals, the Charlotte Art League and several community partners including Levine Museum of the New South, The Mint Museum, The Harvey Gantt Center, The Arts Empowerment Project, and Charlotte Center City Partners, were inspired to create Building Bridges – Eliminating Racism Through Art, a community effort to continue dialogue about systemic racism in Charlotte.
