Black women’s contributions to Revolutionary-era New Jersey have often been overlooked within dominant narratives of the American Revolution. Ceremony for Revolutionary Seeds is a traveling public art installation and participatory ritual series that centers these histories across Trenton, Camden, and Fort Lee.

Through a sculptural ceremonial structure, guided tea ritual, site-based performance, and collective art-making, the project considers how Black women carried knowledge, care, memory, resilience, and possibility through a period of profound change. Each activation, led by artist Nandi Jordan invites audiences to gather at a historic site, reflect on what has been inherited and carried forward, and consider the stories that continue to shape our communities and civic life.
